What is BIRTHFIT
Mission Statement: To cultivate awareness and enhance education throughout the motherhood transition by developing and producing one of a kind BIRTHFIT experiences through in-person classes and distance learning so that the woman has the space to make her own informed, intuitively guided choices.
Why I BIRTHFIT
My kids are nine and almost six. While I had what I would consider very easy pregnancies and deliveries with both, I cannot say the same of my postpartum recovery.
The feeling that I needed to “bounce right back” or “get my body back” was the message I saw over and over again. I knew that wasn’t what was important but it was accessible and popular, so I fell right in line.
For almost 5 years I lived with chronic low back pain, bouts of incontinence (sneeze-peeing anyone?), and the inability to lift or move freely because there was always a pinch, pull or major discomfort. I didn’t want to accept that this was what my life was going to be, I was only in my 30’s and I wasn’t a fan. Thankfully the Universe answers when you call.
Discovering BIRTHFIT not only helped me physically, it also introduced me to an incredible community. Choosing to live BIRTHFIT’s four pillars of fitness, nutrition, mindset & connection and embracing the motto of “Slow is Fast” allows me to live my Awesome and help others to do the same.
